Privacy policy

Starlight Weddings (“Starlight”, “we”, “us”) is a wedding photography and film studio based in Toronto, Ontario. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Information we collect

• When you contact us: your name, email, phone number, wedding date, venue, the coverage you’re interested in, how you found us and anything you write in your message.
• When you book: the details we need for your contract and your day, such as names, billing address, your timeline, key family members and vendors, and payment records. We do not store full card numbers; payments are handled by our payment providers.
• On your wedding day: photographs and video of you, your family and your guests.
• When you browse this site: basic analytics such as pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location and how you arrived, collected through cookies and similar tools.

How we use it

• To reply to your inquiry and prepare a quote.
• To plan, photograph and film your wedding, and to deliver your gallery and films.
• To manage contracts, payments and our business records.
• To improve this website and understand which of our marketing works.
• To send you updates about your booking. We will not add you to marketing emails without your consent.

Your photos and films

You receive your images and films for personal use as described in your contract. We may feature selected images and films in our portfolio, on this website and on social media. If you would prefer we don’t, or want something removed later, just tell us and we’ll take care of it.

Your online gallery may include a face search feature that helps you and your guests find photos of themselves. That processing is carried out by our gallery provider only to match photos within your gallery.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the service providers who help us run our business, and only what they need:

• Website hosting (Hostinger)
• Email and business tools (Google Workspace)
• Website analytics and advertising measurement (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Ads)
• Website experience analytics (Hotjar by Contentsquare), which may record how visitors interact with pages
• Video hosting (Bunny.net) and our online gallery provider
• Payment processors
• Members of our photography and film team working on your wedding

We may also disclose information when required by law. Some of these providers store data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to local laws.

Cookies

This site uses cookies for analytics and to measure how our ads perform. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings and the site will still work. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.

How long we keep it

Inquiries that don’t become bookings are kept for up to 24 months. Client records are kept for as long as needed to fulfil your contract and to meet tax and legal requirements. We keep archived copies of your images for a period after delivery, as set out in your contract, so please keep your own backups too.

How we protect it

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including limiting access to team members who need it, password-protected accounts and secure (HTTPS) connections.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent, subject to contractual and legal limits. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within 30 days. If you have a concern we can’t resolve, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
